Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
How do GLEMP members benefit?
Answer:
Corporate environmental data users will benefit from reviewing performance evaluation data and objective lab reviews in selecting, evaluating, and monitoring labs that support their environmental programs.
Question:
Does GLEMP replace NELAC?
Answer:
No, GLEMP is not an accreditation program. It is used by participating industrial organizations to independantly evaluate and select laboratories. This is accomplished through cost sharing and individual member evaluation.
Question:
What are the requirements for laboratories, and how much will it cost?
Answer:
Laboratories must run PE samples for GLEMP twice a year for each analyte of interest. GLEMP’s PE program will potentially allow labs to reduce the number of performance evaluations conducted for clients, and labs, if they choose, may use the GLEMP PE program to meet accreditation requirements.
Question:
What criteria will be used in GLEMP performance evaluations?
Answer:
GLEMP does not pass judgement on the performance evaluations or the laboratory reviews. GLEMP’s sole responsibility is to present data to members who independently evaluate all laboratories of interest.
Question:
How does a laboratory schedule PE samples?
Answer:
Fill out the GLEMP application or log onto APGQA.com/GLEMP to print them, and send them to APG.
Question:
When will the first GLEMP laboratory directory be posted to the members?
Answer:
GLEMP members will have access to the first lab directory in December 2006. Contact information and each laboratory’s study schedule will be distributed for member review, and all other profile informaiton will be available to the members at that time.
Question:
When will GLEMP begin the lab reviews?
Answer:
GLEMP members are in the process of finalizing the lab review protocol and are selecting review contractors. Reviews are expected to begin in the summer of 2007.
Question:
When can a laboratory submit data to GLEMP?
Answer:
Laboratories must choose to participate in two GLEMP studies and they must also opt to release the data to GLEMP before the end of a study. (available studies are on the right)
