In previous DMRQA studies, participants had the option of using a regular WP study to meet their DMRQA requirements, as long as the WP study met the following requirements [1]:
a) Data (i.e., final results) must not be released prior to June 2, 2004.
b) Study close date is on or before September 3, 2004
c) Study is offered by a NIST Accredited Provider.
Following this criteria, participants could use a May, June, or July WP study for DMRQA. With DMRQA Study 25, the requirements have been changed due to the new NELAC Fields of Proficiency Testing (FOT).
Effective June 1, 2005, new acceptance criteria will be in place for Non-Potable Water. For the chemistry testing of DMRQA, all of the analytes will have a revision, whether it is the concentration range, acceptance criteria, PTRL, or all three. To view the new FOT, visit the NELAC website at www.epa.gov/nerlesd1/land-sci/nelac/pttables.html
The change in the FOT has no effect on DMRQA WET Testing.
In January, the USEPA sent out the draft DMRQA Study 25 announcement letter. In order to have consistency in the WP testing and DMRQA, the EPA will accept only those WP results from WP tests starting on or after June 1, 2005 and ending before Sept 3, 2005 [2]. Because of this, only a June or July WP can be used for DMRQA.
