Why do I fail my Volatiles PTs if my CCV’s are passing?
According to EPA method 524.2, a continuing calibration check must be analyzed. If the value for each analyte is within 30% of the true value, the instrument is considered still in check and analysis may continue.  This is fine for routine analysis, but there is a gap between method quality control and proficiency test sample evaluation.

Laboratory Quality: The Customer's Perspective
Through a new service provided by the Global Laboratory Evaluation & Management Program (GLEMP), laboratories promoting themselves on their analytical data quality will now be able to cost-effectively demonstrate their capabilities to their customers....and potential customers, too.

GLEMP was created in early 2006 -- a very short time ago.  The response from industry thus far indicates that customers of laboratories value their new-found ability to quantify the quality afforded by their laboratory providers.
